No need long note on this well known animal. I love this big 'cat'.

I took this picture at around noon [not a great time for taking photo, especially in the Tropics, during dry season]. Last time I took some photos under similar harsh environment, I ended up with some OE spots in my photos. But I learned the lesson....

This time, I waited until this lioness moved to a less direct sunlight, under these two palm trees. Then I encountered different problem, i.e., big different in light intensity between area under plant canopy and open area at BG. If I adjusted my exposure based on light condition under tree canopy, I got nice picture of the lioness but I might 'burn' my BG. On the other hand, if I adjusted based on light condition at BG, you can guess, I only got shilhouette of the lioness. [You may suggesting to use fill flash, but it is a bit too far for the flash]

For a few minutes, I took some shots but I was not happy with the results. Then I almost gave up when I looked at the sky, I saw cloud moved slowly toward the sun. This picture was captured at time the sun was covered by cloud. Taken at slower speed of 1/15 seconds and apperture at f/5.2, ISO 100, tripod was used, no flash.

Hope you like the result....

Hi Ben.
Lovely shot of this big, savage, terrible but very lovely big cat. All details are perfect. I love its expression. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot, Benyamin. The light behind softly illuminates the scene. Very nice POV capturing a look of attention. I like the way the vegeatation frames it all in without being intrusive.
Cheers

Hi Ben
It is good you had the patience to wait for the best light situation. Very nice soft light with no harsh shadows. Nice colors and sharp detail in this well composed and framed shot. She looks great in this lush natural environment.

Muy agradable (en la distancia) ese gran gato que has fotografiado.
Parece confiado, seguramente no te consideró "peligroso". Perfecta composición, sencilla y sin embargo puedo entender que tuviste serias dificultades para tomar la foto.
Enhorabuena Benyamin.

Hi Benyamin... very nice compo, mainly by POV.

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, sharpness, color, framing, lighting, notes.

I like it: focus, background.

Regards... Ricardo

Hi Ben,
Great job on the exposure, considering the conditions. I love the pose and the the details surrounding the lion. I do miss some sharpness and feel there is a little digital haze visable. But besides that a beautiful photo.

i looked closely all round to see any human artifacts..and i assume this is in a compound for lions..??
i like what you did to wait..this is what real photography is...waiting for the right light etc..the surroundings look strange to me as my sighting of lioness are usually in the wild and open spaces..but i do like the peaceful pose and the greenery...lions are my favourite cats...well along with all the cats its difficult..but lion is king
cheers

Hello Ben! How are you?

I see you have a great eye for the perfect POV. But I feel it is abit out of focus?
Lovely colors but I'm not sure about the light. Can't seem to make up my mind on that one..
But thats only my humble openion. A very nice shoot anyway..

Excellent photo. The composition is perfect! Your note was very useful.

Nuch much to do about the bright blackground. Maybe climbing a tree to attempt to have a POV from higher up? And in the same time to loose the branch which are in the way. Anyway this is an impressive capture.
