I appologise because although this spider seemed very common, I never got its name. This speciment must have been 5 or 6 cm long, with a body part of about 1.5 cm.

I'm not sure but it could be a Nephila clavipes - golden silk spider. A very nice capture, sharp details and excellent DOF.
