I know the small copper Lycaena phlaeas has been shown here many times. However, I could not resist posting this just for the glorious colours and the perfect match between the butterfly and the petals of the flower. Normally, I would not think of the Small Copper as being an exponent of the art of camouflage, but here she seems to be just that.

Camera hand-held in late afternoon, autumn sunshine. Cropped , resized and sharpened for TN.

Hello Alan,
You're right: one doesn't usually associate the Small Copper with camouflage, but some butterflies vanish if the colour of the flower is right. This looks like an Asian subspecies, the outer dark border of the forewing being almost divided by lines of orange.
Nice capture from a good POV and the neutral OOF BG allows both it and the orange flower to stand out.
Thanks for sharing this one,
Ivan

Hi Alan,
A beautiful capture of this orange copper. Yes it has perfectly chosen the flower resembling its body color. Excellent composition and details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Alan,
Just looking at all your beautiful butterfly shots and this one caught my attention most. Those colours are simply beautiful! It is a perfect match indeed. Your depth of field is just perfect and good amount of light. The dark browns of the background balance the brightness of the subject quite well. Lovely textures I can see in the butterfly's wings and also in the softness of the flower petals. Well done!
Roxanne
