Argyreus hyperbius The Lace Fritillary

Some while ago I showed a female hyperbius from Japan and today it is time to see a male from the same country. The notes I wrote before are still valid.

This time.however, instead of a countryside setting, I found the butterfly in a small public garden next to the railway locomotive museum in Kyoto City.
It just goes to show how flexible some creatures are. This chap has lost a little of his hindwing margins but is still a good representative of his species.

The image has been cropped, resized and sharpened for TN.

Hola Alan.
preciosa macro,
excelente color y detalles...
buen trabajo,
saludos

Hello Alan,
Very good picture of this Fritillary species.
TFS Harm

Ciao Alan,
questa bella specie presenta davvero un notevole dimorfismo sessuale.
La femmina è sicuramente più appariscente, ma anche il maschio è di notevole bellezza.
La tua foto ne esalta bene i colori ed il disegno alare.
Saluti,
Marcello

Hi Alan

A beauty.

Have seen it in Oz.

Like the blue markings on hindwing.

Hi Alan, elegant butterfly with splendid colors, great details and excellent sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Alan, this butterfly are increasing and expanding in Japan these days. When I was a child, it never flied in Tokyo. But now, this species are the most common butterfly in Tokyo. Some researchers argue that climate change has been a major factor.
regards, Motoki
