[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have dedicated this posting to Mehmet(Matatur) for two reasons:- First for his erudite postings of seashells and secondly because yesterday I realised I was practically at 10,000 points - by my calculations, it was Mehmet's critique which made me reach 10,000!

I have looked at my recent shots and seen that TN has had quite an effect on my photography, so I would like all those who have critiqued my postings.

I am not going to post any more information about Japanese Macaques as I have provided lots with the earlier postings.

I liked this shot because of the look of resignation on this Macaque's face. The light was falling, it was snowing, the wind was bitter .... and spring seemed a long way off!

Cute reason for the dedication to Mehmet. What an expression on this face - just priceless. I love the snow on his head and the wonderful reflection. What pretty eyes he has!

Hi James,
a truly unique shot, wow! The floating head effect is amazing. Congrats on 10,000 points (which must nearly equal your airmiles by now), and a fine dedication too. Well done.

amazing capture, TFS Ori

Cool image, James.
The look of resignation is almost human.
Wonderful moment and great content.
Well done

Hi James!
Lovely water reflections with fantastic DOF and details! And of course a very nice dedication to our TN friend - Mehmet :) I believe he will like it :)
All the best from Poland,

Hi James,
great shot. The head is captured perfectly sharp.
The reflection in the water is great.
Very good composition.
TFS Tatjana

Hello James
What can I say!!..Just amazing..One for the favourites without a doubt.
Sorry to be Short..Got to go get the lad in a min from the station.

Hi James
I would say this is National Geographic quality. The look on the Macque's face says it all. Well done.
TFS Janice

Hi James,
Amazing image, the expression is a classic one too. Your Japanese Macaque series (not forgetting the polar bears) is one that most photogs will be happy to be their own. TFS

Hi James

Superb shot of the Macaque.
Nicely composed with a great level POV and a lovely pose by the Macaque keeping warm in the Spa.
Very nice details with the water droplets
Lovely colours and a beautiful reflection.

Hi James,
Wow! This is a great shot. The photo OP you had is amazing, the POV could'nt be better. The adaption to the hot springs for these animals is very interesting considering that they haven't really been doing this kind of behavior for very long of the Japanese macaques. Well done and TFS
Paul :)

Wow, what a pleasant surprise, your fine dedication James, and congratulations for your 10.000 points my friend, glad to help in that department with my meagre 2 pts! The macaque looks a little resigned indeed, and more than a little cold! poor fellow, hope it has warmed a little in the meantime, but the reflective capture is perfect in every sense of fine photography, for that I thank you once more, my friend.

Hi James,
This is a stunning portrait! You must be very proud of it! Reflection, details, POV and exposure are perfect and what to say about this expression; a real winner!

Stunning capture James in all aspects. Superb facial expression and splendid reflections. Perfect! Also nice dedication to Atatür. TFS.

excellent shot, I like how you got him in the water with just his head above it, and great detail and focus, also like the falling snow

Hi James
An awesome shot and congrats on your 10 000 points. I love the snow in his hair, the reflection, the look on his face..hell everything is there!
Cheers Sue

Hey James,
I passed by this yesterday and had to come back for the critique.
This has to be one in a million , i know not for the Macaques, but for the composition.
What a fantastic idea, with great reflection and those brooding eyes are rivetting.Thefeatures are revealing and the water drop splashing up and with those on its head and face adds the drama to the shot.
What perfect timing to be there and freeze it all in frame!!!

And yes, absolutely fitting a dedication to Mehmet for the tresures that he comes up with each time..

Thank you for this one..goes right into my favourites.

Spettacolare ritratto, eccellenti POV e DOF, splendido taglio compositivo verticale con il riflesso, eccellente nitidezza e bellissimi tutti i dettagli, molto belli i colori, magnifica luce. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Incredible shot of this Macaques James. It is awesome, complete with the soaked fur, the colour, that look of resignation, the reflection, the positioning etc. etc. Wow!

Thanks, John

The falling snow and cool tones really set the atmosphere... and then the droplets in its fur and how he is partially submerged in water gives the viewer a sense that he's freeeeeeezing cold... but then the look on his face changes that to being once freezing but now lovely and warm in the spring :-)
I just love the reflection too.
Definately one of your best and probably one of the best on TN!
Straight into my favourites!

p.s congratulations on 10,000 too! :-)

Hi James

Again an absolutely fantastic close-up from you, my friend!
I'm sure it's great to see these fellows live, but be sure you also made a lot of people happy when you came back with such terrific photos :) No wonder so many people call this one a favorite ;)

The full-frontal look here works wonders and the (almost - because he is too relaxed :)) eye-contact is great!
The details are also impeccably sharp while the vertical composition is exceptional, including that very nice reflection.
A splendid shot and a wonderful dedication for Mehmet.

Cheers and TFS

Hi James,
Outstanding shot and the Macaque with its reflection looks fantastic. Very impressive sharpness and colours and I like the droplets on its fur. Seems like an eskimo in deep waters. Excellent DOF and a well chosen low POV to portray it. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Good, I get to add the two points that bring this photo to 100.
This is definitely National Geographic work. You are amazingly talented photographer and to be member of this site with such talent as yours is an honor.

Hello James,
A fine face-to face portrait of a Japanese Macaque in the water. great resigned expression on his face and I like the water droplets from the melting snow on his hair and his reflection is a fine addition to the composition.
A very nice image, a fine tribute to Mehmet and thanks for sharing it,

Amazing shot! One of the best I have ever seen!!! The composition, the mood you have captured, reflections, all make a remarkable picture. Get to learn many things from seeing these kind of pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Hello James,

Perhaps you already lost your jetlag. I do hope it for you. Scrolling through your archive I find this one. What a clarity and beautiful colors. The mirror effect is amazing. Razorsharp. And when you take a look to the eyes (expression) you can read the enjoy from that warm water. Must be lovely for this animals. POV, DOF and BG are good. A very nice composition. Greetings and have a nice time in Vancouver. TFS BOB

Hi James,
Excellent capture.
Well done.

Hi James. That snow of the top of the head really gives this perspective. Love the colours and the great focus. I like how the reflection seems to look at you. Very riveting picture. TFS Trevor
