Locust hanging down from the straw
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This photograph is taken in the farm road around Memanbetsu Airport in Hokkaido. When I was walking along the farm road, the red dragonfly and the butterfly were often seen. Since I heard the cry of the insect, when I came close, the locust was hanging down from the straw of the reed of the side of a sugar beet field. It's impressive in the green body and golden feather. Probably, it will be Oxya yezoensis. Total length is 4 cm and a tactile sense is very long. It likes the damp environment and eat the leaf of the Poaceae plant. An imago begins to appear from around July and is seen till November-December. In Japan, while being considered as the noxious insect which eats a rice, it was treated as an important protein source acquired from a paddy field, and it was considered as edible in many areas.|

Great details captured of this locust especially of the big eye. I also like the brilliant green colour of the insect that is beautifully seen against the darker green backdrop. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
