[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photograph was taken in Kiyosumi Garden in Tokyo Koto-ku. This garden was a stroll garden and was the residence of the wealthy merchant of the Edo period. Now, Tokyo metropolitan manages here and presents to general public. There is a big pond in the center inside the garden, and the pine tree, rocks, stone lantern and the bridge are arranged so that it may be surrounded. If I go to this garden, I will meet the Egret and Grey Heron other than many carps of a pond. Although the egret was not seen on that day, I saw the Grey Heron. It moved and stopped to the roof of tea house or the stone lantern. And, if it is hungry, it will come to the rocks of the edge of a pond and will capture the small fish which is in a pond with its sharp eye and a long beak. The Grey Heron of this garden does not escape easily, even if people approach near
it. It seems to use to human being. I had followed together the motion of a Grey Heron for a while. This photograph catches the moment of having caught small fish out of the pond and inserting into a beak. Seemingly, it will not end this action, unless this bird also captures what ten fish. It is 88 - 98 cm full length. Weight is 1.2 - 1.8 kg. And, the upper surface is covered with the bluish gray feather. It inhabits a river, a lake, a marshland, a tidal flat, a paddy field, etc. Feeding habits are animal foods and eat fishes, amphibians, small mammals, the crustacea, an insect, etc.

Helo Mikio.
Amazing capture with amazing clarity. I really like the looks of feet underwater. In my area, the heron is a very elusive bird. Always the photographed from afar.
Thanks.
Robert
