Common Hamster - Cricetus cricetus
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Common Hamster (Cricetus cricetus) is widely distributed from Belgium through Central Europe, Western Siberia and Northern Kazakhstan to the upper Jenissei river, Altai region and Northwest China. This species is the biggest of the hamster family. It is under high protection in Central Europe because of declining and regional extinction. The reasons are overhunting, modern agriculture and traffic.
