Hill Blue Flycatcher
(Cyornis banyumas)
Size: 15 cm
Location: Kaeng Kracharn National Park (Thailand)/ Bukit Tinggi (Malaysia)

A large-billed, blue and orange flycatcher. Male very similar to Tickellís but larger and deeper blue above with more black on cheeks. Orange on underparts variable but often extends down flanks as a wash. Female dark brown above with rusty tail and warm buff below. Both have rather long black bill and pinkish-brown (not black) legs.

Hard tak and short rattle. Warbling song more complex than Tickellís.

Inhabits thick forest feeding unobtrusively on invertebrates at lower levels in canopy. Fly-catches. Nests low down.

Rare winter visitor and passage migrant in Singapore.
