Blue Nuthatch

Size: 13 cm
Location: Fraserís Hill (Pahang)

Description:
Unmistakable; dark blue upper-parts appear black in poor light.

Voice:
A high-pitched, squeaky chee-chee.

Habits:
Restricted to montane forest above 900m. in Peninsular Malaysia, its often seen at hill stations, usually during bird waves move restlessly through the middle storey of the forest. This active bird runs quick jerks up and down branches, probing fro tiny invertebrates and quickly disappearing from sight. Although this species is quite numerous; its nest has never been found.

Distribution:
Found in Malaysia, Sumatra and Java (Indonesia). A locally common resident in montane Peninsula Malaysia.
