Little Pied Flycatcher
(Ficedula westermanni)
Size: 11 cm
Location: Fraserís Hill (Pahang)

Male is unmistakable, note especially prominent white supercilium. Female is a nondescript brown with paler under-parts.
Quite vocal, with thin pi-pi-pi.

A strictly mountain species found in forest from 800 to 2600m elevation, mainly in closed undisturbed forest, but also in forest edges and nearby gardens. It perches in the middle storey on an exposed stick, flying out to catch insects in the air.

Oriental region. A widespread and common resident in most mountain parts of the region; including the larger Philippines islands.
