Hello friends in TN,

I was combing the beach with Foozi today and we spotted this mudskipper basking under the sun.

Mudskippers are members of the subfamily Oxudercinae (tribe Periophthalmini), within the family Gobiidae (Gobies). They are completely amphibious fish, fish that can use their pectoral fins to walk on land. Being amphibious, they are uniquely adapted to intertidal habitats, unlike most fish in such habitats which survive the retreat of the tide by hiding under wet seaweed or in tidal pools. Mudskippers are quite active when out of water, feeding and interacting with one another, for example to defend their territories.
They are found in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions, including the Indo-Pacific and the Atlantic coast of Africa.

Wow Jusni
I looks as if this Mudskipper is stiched together with 100's of tiny pearl-like objects. I have never seen one of these and is rather amazed by its beautiful features which is so beautifully seen. It has a very fascinating shape of face, which somehow reminds me of a frog. Great image in a pleasant composition, showing all details with great clarity. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Ciao Jusni, great capture of strange creature, beautiful light, splendid sharpness, wonderful colors and fine details, very well done my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Salam Jusni,
it was the mudskipper fault to have my skin so tanned and shiny. He is a real fast guy, jumping the moment it hears human approaching. But I cant figure out how on earth he lets you shoot him, in shy facial expression and well tamed.
Excellent sharpness and superb composition. The features and details are well recorded.
It was a difficult time, as he is very very small and its colour resembles its surrounding. Fooling us as well as the camera.
What a day!

Hola Jusni

Preciosa composición de este pequeño Gobio saltarin, es una animal muy original y muy territorial. Una profundidad de campo excelente y bien configurada la luz, con esos escasos 1/50. Buen trabajo.

PD. Gracias por tus comentarios.

Hello Jusni,
What an unusual shot you managed to capture. I have only read about these little guys so this is a very interesting photo you have posted. I must say it seems odd to see a fish out of the water and basking on a rock, how neat!!

Hello Jusni,
These Mudskippers seem to be some kind of very interesting mix and link between creatures.Unfortunately I never have seen them myself. Very well composed picture with the stone used as diagonal...and the mudskipper looks so cute holding on it.
Have a nice Sunday
Kind regards
