Blue Moon Butterfly
This is a very freshly captured butterfly. I just came back from a wedding, a young lady who is a pre-school teacher. Her name is Azwani . All the best to her and your wedding will be blessed.
I parked my car near a bush. Upon starting my car I saw in the bushes this beautiful butterfly resting on small creepers. crisses crossed by dried branches.

The Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina), also called Blue Moon Butterfly in New Zealand or Common Eggfly,is a species of nymphalid butterfly.

The Great Eggfly is a black-bodied butterfly with a wingspan of about 7–8˝ cm. The species has a high degree of sexual dimorphism. The female is mimetic with multiple morphs.[2]

Male
The upper side of the wings are jet black, offset with three pairs of white spots &two on the forewing and one on the hind. These white spots are surrounded by purple iridescence. In addition, the upper side of the hind wing bears a series of small white dots.

Female
Race bolina- Female at Sindhrot in Vadodara district of Gujarat, India. The upper side of the wings of the female is a brownish black and does not have any spots like those of the male. The edges bear white markings which are similar to those of the Common Indian

Great Eggflies are known for maternal care, with the females guarding leaves where eggs have been laid. Males are also very territorial and site fidelity increases with age. Territories that enhance the detection of females are preferred. The female hovers over a plant to check for ants which will eat her eggs. After selecting a plant which has no ants on it, she lays at least one but often two to five eggs on the undersides of the leaves.

Hi Foozi,
Real photographer brings the camera everywhere, even into his / her bed or to the toilet. :) Yes, "always be prepared to that 'once-in-a-lifetime' capture", as Frank 'Dingo' said on TrekLens. Fantastic photo, very colorful tropical butterfly. Of course I don't have a clue what specie it belongs to, I can only say congratulations - this was Azwani's real present to You.
Tfs, best regards from the (on my today post) pseudo-tropical Hungary. :)

Hi Foozi,

The leaves and the branches are framing well the insect. The poin of view is allowing us to see with precision the details and colors of the Blue Moon butterfly. The colors are enhanced by the surrounding light. have a nice day.
