[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Marasmius alliaceus is one of the larger mushrooms of the Marasmius genus, having a beige cap of up to 4 cm and a long tough slender stipe. It emanates a strong smell of garlic, and this is the significance of the Latin species name, alliaceus. It is distributed throughout Europe, being fairly common in some areas and quite rare in others.
The cap of M. alliaceus is edible, but of limited culinary value due to its meagre flesh. It can be added to dishes in order to give a garlic flavour, a possibility which could be useful in the case of people who are allergic to real garlic.

Hi Foozi,

This really IS a beauty. The cap is so lovely - even though the mushroom is large it is delicate looking. Wonderful natural colors and fine details. I love the leafy background.

Hi MF Foozi,

An awesome macro capture of a spectacular mushroom species resembling a flower:) from fine low POV with perfect focusing and nice composition.
TFS and cheers,

Hi Foozi,
Excellent photo with very clear details and colors..
Nice composition...TFS.

Hello Foozi,

You have a stunning collection of fungi here!
I pick this one but it could have been anyone of the other images...
Good point of view showing some of the underside, the finer details are skillfully recorded. Accurate DoF and a fine 3D effect as the subject stands out well!

Hi Foozi,

Great macro shot of the cap. Beautiful textures and details, nice color tones and contrast. A bit of noise again in the bg, but otherwise a very interesting image. Tfs.

What You wrote in the note about Marasmius alliaceus is right, but this is another Marasmius specie for sure. Click here to see the difference. Beside that there are other species in the genus with smell of garlic, Marasmius scorodonius and Marasmius prasiosmus. Each of them is differing from Your specimen.

Best regards, László

Hello Foozi,
This mushroom is a special one too! What an amazing shape! You did really well showing almost the whole cap in focus and a good view on its deep stripes. The composition is good like always. A fungi I would like surely if it has a garlic flavour.
Thanks and kind regards

Hi Foozi,

The green leaves are framing well the mushroom. The close-up view is showing with precision the details and colors of the Mariamus alliaceus mushroom. The surrounding light is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.
