As I walked along the narrow trail, in distance I could see these Cattle egrets walking in the padi fields. The came in a group and started to feed on the small fish in the water. As the padi is about to ripe, the water is getting less and choppy. so there is a lot of opportunity for them to catch the fish.
They also surround and walk around cattle to enjoy company, i think they bite some bugs on the cattle skin.
They do come in groups too during the early rainy season to feed on small fish.
When they realise that you are near about 20meter
they would fly.

The Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) is a cosmopolitan species of heron (family Ardeidae) found in the tropics, subtropics and warm temperate zones. It is the only member of the monotypic genus Bubulcus, although some authorities regard its two subspecies as full species. Despite the similarities in plumage to the egrets of the genus Egretta, it is more closely related to the herons of Ardea. Originally native to parts of Asia, Africa and Europe, it has undergone a rapid expansion in its distribution and successfully colonized much of the rest of the world.

It is a stocky white bird adorned with buff plumes in the breeding season which nests in colonies, usually near bodies of water and often with other wading birds. The nest is a platform of sticks in trees or shrubs. Unlike most other herons, it feeds in relatively dry grassy habitats, often accompanying cattle or other large mammals, since it catches insect and small vertebrate prey disturbed by these animals. Some populations of the Cattle Egret are migratory and others show post-breeding dispersal.

The adult Cattle Egret has few predators, but birds or mammals may raid its nests, and chicks may be lost to starvation, calcium deficiency or disturbance from other large birds. This species removes ticks and flies from cattle, but it can be a safety hazard at airfields, and has been implicated in the spread of tick-borne animal diseases.

Hello Foozi,
A great shot showing Cattle Egret behaviour!
They don't only rely on livestock to find their food: one forgets that wet paddy fields hold a lot of crustaceans and fish.
These three were well captured with nice sharpness and colours despite the distance!
Thanks and have a good weekend my friend,
Ivan

Salam Foozi,

salam akhi Foozi
since I didnt see note on your previous post, I cant write about your 400th post. Now, this is 401. Congratulations on your 4th milestones my friend. I wish you many hundreds and for a long time here; inshallah.
This is different from your previous post from Padi Field seri. This belongs to beautiful egrets. The Cattle Egret relatively common here, of course in summer. Nice to see them from your beautiful country. you nicely captured them among long grasses. focus, POV and composition very nice. thanks for sharing, have a nice weekend
