Thanks for all your critiques on my recent postings from Sabah.

Today I present this large phasmid from Poring Hot Springs. It was huge, nearly 20cm (8in) in length. I found it on the path while going to dinner (always carry your camera).
Despite a long search on the net, I couldn’t find out any info on this species. So if anyone knows what it is, feel free to tell me.

Update 11/4/09. Big thanks to Lou (euroblinke) I can confirm it is a female Bornean Phasmid (Haaniella erringtoniae).

Hello Chris,
Though I can't give you the ID of this species of Stick Insect, it is a fine capture of this giant.
The lateral POV shows its features with fine detail and colours against a suitable BG, which should enable any person with a knowledge of Phasmids to ID it.
Thanks and have a good Sunday,
Ivan

Hi Cris,
Very unusual creature indeed! Strong saturated colors, good dept of field, sharpness and composition. It is a big insect, and I know how difficult is to point the camera towards such a complicated structure! Specially when is design to blend with the environment.Well done!

George Veltchev

Hello Chris,
What a strange, huge and vicious-looking insect!! Excellent macro showing very fine details and colours. It doesn't look much like a Stick insect but I'm sure Ivan is right!

Hello Chris,
What an interesting and intricate looking insect! I see Laurens has identified it. The colors are wonderful and the camouflaged stands out well. Very good capture.Best regards Siggi

Hello Chris,
It's a terrible bug! but very well photographed! what a big thing!
Good POV, contrast is perfect and I congratulated you by selective cutting!
Of course, Laurens could identify! he usually has similar bugs as pets! in the picture of his profile, appears with a huge bug attached to his face! :)
TFS
Jesús
