[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Asilidae are the robber fly family, also called assassin flies. They are powerfully built, bristly flies with short, sharp, stout sucking mouthparts. The name "robber flies" reflects their notoriously aggressive predatory habits; they feed mainly on other insects and they largely wait in ambush and catch their prey in flight.

Hi Foozi.
Amazing reproduction of the eyes as well as other details of the fly. Impressive eye-contact, direct POV and nice use of fill flash for demonstration of the attractive features of the insect. TFS and warm regards.

Hello Foozi,
A superb macro image of this Robber Fly showing exceptional detail and beautiful colors. I love those large complex eyes and the way you can see each individual simple eye very clearly. The use of a f/14 aperture gave you some excellent DOF. Great work!!
Hope you don't mind, but I wanted to try and tone down the exposure on the twig in a WS in order to keep focus on the beautiful fly.
