Heckle and Jeckle

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
On the way home to Australia from Thailand we spent a couple of days sight-seeing around Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
I found these two Javan Mynas (Acridotheres javanicus) in the beautifully landscaped gardens behind the famous Petronas Twin Towers, now the second tallest building in the world.
They reminded me vividly of the two cartoon magpies Heckle and Jeckle and they potted about the picnic ground arguing with sparrows and magpie-robins over food scraps.
The Javan Myna is an Indonesian species that has established a feral population through southern Malaysia and Singapore. They are much like the Common Myna in their habits, preferring urban areas and nearby cultivated environments.
