[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
No, not another sunset. It's actually a sunrise photo. It was taken about 20 minutes before sunrise on my first morning on my first visit to the island of Meeru on the Maldives. Jet-lag had got me up early, I think it was about 4-5am and I couldn't sleep. I saw faint colour in the sky, so I took my cameras and walked to the east side of the island. I saw sights like this for about 30 minutes, took a load of photos and just left my camcorder running. Peace and quiet, heaven! I read on TrekEarth that the red skies in sunsets are caused by the angle of the sunlight coming throught the atmosphere causing the white light to be split, and only the red, orange and yellow gets through. I'm sure there's some green and blue here, also. Post processing: Just sharpened.
