Pumori. The girl
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|The sugarhead of Pumori is considered to be one of the "most climbable" 7000 m peak in Nepal. It is located on Nepal-Tibet border near Everest and offers supperb views of the world's highest mountain, Lhotse and Nuptse. The peak was named by George Mallory after his young daughter during the first Everest reconnaissance. In the Sherpa language "Pumo" means unmarried girl, and "Ri" - mountain. Mountaineers ofter call Pumori - the daughter of Everest.|

Mikhail another superb veiw of one of earths high spots, the lighting of the ridges and snow for me is superb al those angles all pointing up to the ultra dark sky. well scanned and transfered to the litle screen.
Magnificent lightning, at what time was it taken? It looks like it being lit by a giant torch :-)
Stunning. The colors are rich and the contrast between the peak and dark sky is fantastic. Wonderful clarity and composition. Well done.
Very nice shot, I'd really like to see a panoramic.
One girl I would love to be in the top of, no doubt about it ! Very moody though with gigantic accumulations of snow if not technically extremely difficult becomes very treacherous because of avalanches. I still remember when home in Eastearn Europe, reading the story of three Slovakian climbers in 1997 who were swalowed by the mountain after falling almost five hundred feet while in expedition here. Make no mistake, the ,,unmarried daughter,, is a man eater at times !
Keep up this beautful mountain serie, I will thank you every oportunity I get !
