[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just before noon today, I caught a young pair of house sparrows as the two sat preening on a charpai (cot) reclining against the wall.In the background was this cemented wall which gives the photo a light brownish background.

I love to listen to sparrows as they sit on cornices, ledges, talking with that staccato chirp which is so romantic, so transporting. On hot noons they used to come to our verandah and kept talking, often quenching their thirst from the pot of water I had placed for them and other birds in the shade of the verandah.

These are beautiful birds. Let me say again the spring and summer chirps of sparrow at hot noons is so soothing to ears, romantic indeed.

The House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a bird of the sparrow family Passeridae, found in most parts of the world. One of about 25 species in the genus Passer, the House Sparrow occurs naturally in most of Europe, the Mediterranean region, and much of Asia. Its intentional or accidental introductions to many regions, including parts of Australia, Africa, and the Americas, make it the most widely distributed wild bird. The House Sparrow is strongly associated with human habitations, and can live in urban or rural settings. Though found in widely varied habitats and climates, it typically avoids extensive woodlands, grasslands, and deserts away from human development. A small bird, it has a length of 16 centimetres (6.3 in) and a weight of 2439.5 grams (0.851.39 oz). Females and young birds are coloured pale brown and grey, and males have brighter black, white, and brown markings. The House Sparrow feeds mostly on the seeds of grains and weeds, and insects, and can perform complex and unusual tasks to obtain food. The predators of the House Sparrow include domestic cats, hawks, owls, and many other predatory birds and mammals.(Wikipedia)

Hello Abid,
I must say everything from the perch to the BG compliments the tanish brown coloring of this little ladies plumage. You have captured her in a delightful pose as she primps and preens her feathers. Wonderful detail and just the right lighting.
We have many House Sparrows around our home and you are right, they do have a soothing voice. I confess I do get upset with them when they continually chase our blubirds from their nesting box and sometimes break their eggs.
