Ok now I am digging deep into my archives, but I thought this might be interesting to share. Picture was taken out of a helicopter.
I thought I did scan this from a print but my mistake, in fact it is a shot with my old Agfa sorry about the misinformation. Mind you while searching all the back up files I did find all the other shots of this trip and will share a few more with you.

Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.

The volcano erupted in June 1991 after 635 years of dormancy, and produced the second largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century.
The effects of the eruption were felt worldwide.
It injected large amounts of aerosols into the stratosphere—more than any eruption since that of Krakatoa in 1883. Over the following months, the aerosols formed a global layer of sulfuric acid haze. Global temperatures dropped by about 0.5 °C (0.9 °F), and ozone destruction increased substantially.

Hi Sky,
Who cares that it is a scanned photo with slightly less of a high quality. I still think its still good. The fact that you were in a helicopter capturing such a stunning view simply makes me jealous. The color of the water is just amazing. I've seen simular colored water when I visited some sleeping vulcano's when I visited the Azores.
The details in the photo are very good and the helicopter view is spectacular. The cloud cover gave the entire photo a nice misterious look that fits perfectly with the subject.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Sky!
This picture is simply monumental! Great colours of water, very dramatic mountains and very nice POV! All these things make here an interesting composition what together with informative note give a splendid presentation!
TFS and best greetings,
Radomir

PS. Bravo for quality of scanned picture :>

Hi Sky.
I like your very impressive photo with amazing pictured scene and excellent POV. The quality of the shot is very good. Main point is you managed to reflect the atmosphere of captured place. Amazing lights and shadows, colour palette and details. I also like your cropping and framing of the shot. Excellent done and TFS.
Alexei.

Absolutely worth sharing, and the quality is quite good in my opinion.
Quite relevant as only the day before yesterday I watched a documentary on this very volcano blowing its load. Its hard to believe that this beautiful pool helped with the initial eruption. Isn't nature amazing.

Hello Sky,
beautiful image with stunning blue colours of the blue vulcanic lake. As a geologist once told me it seems that it has to do with the reflection of sunlight on particles.
A well composed image with beautiful colours.

Superb shot.

Hello Sky,
This is interesting and a good image!
Maybe Mt Pinatubo isn't the most beautiful of the Philippines volcanos, but of course the resent history makes it interesting...
I think this is the first image I have seen before the eruption in 1991, but an Australian posted a capture of the early stages of the actual eruption in TrekEarth...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Sky

Archive or not, this is most impressive!!!
The fact that this is taken from a chopper is interesting alone for me :) (i used to be very passionate about them when i was a little boy) :))
The view from up here is breathtaking and this volcano sure looks fearsome! The perspective is amazing and the light and colors complete the mood here perfectly.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Sky!

Thank you for sharing this, I never had time to visit this place while in the philippines. Volcanoelakes are always beautiful and this is no exception.
Very nice depth and the details around the lake are excellent!
This must have been a very nice flight.

Hallo Sky
What a spectacular view of this vulcano. Excellent sharpness and clarity. The lake's color is just wonderful. A fantastic piece of nature, well presented here. Very impressing and beautiful to look at the opening that are so well exposed. An amazing landscape, looks like a place where a spaceship of some kind out of a sci-fi movie would land. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
