[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Several important river systems have their sources on Pinatubo, with the major rivers being the Bucao, Santo Tomas, Maloma, Tanguay and Kileng rivers. Before the eruption, these river systems were important ecosystems, but the eruption filled many valleys with deep pyroclastic deposits. Since 1991, the rivers have been clogged with sediment, and the valleys have seen frequent lahars. Studies show that the river systems will take many years yet to recover from the 1991 eruption.

Pyroclastic flows are mixtures of hot gas, ash and other volcanic rocks travelling very quickly down the slopes of volcanoes. They are one of the most dangerous hazards posed by volcanoes.

Hello Sky,
Nice view of this after eruption. Hopefully the ecosystem is back by now. Sorry, Nikon D70s is not in production in year 2000 :) TFS this fantastic scenery.

Hello Sky

Wow an amazing POV.You know you are getting old when your current affairs have become recent history. Was it really 1991 ? It seems much shorter than that.Impressive shot of the aftermath 9 years later.TFS

Hallo Sky,
das Netzwerk auf der linken Seite des Flusses sieht wirklich interessant aus. Eine wilde urwüchige Landschaft, wirklich schön.
Viele Grüße

Wow! What a stuning view of this beautiful landscape, Sky! The shot perfectly shows the waters full of sediments with those grey colors.
A great document about the Pinatubo. Though I don't know what "pyroclastic" means exactly; this word is not in my Collins :).
Thank you very much for all this sequence.
Best wishes

Hi Sky. Nice mixture of beautiful landscape and geography notes. Interesting to read and hear more about this place. I go to Luzon quite often but have not seen this part of the country as yet. tfs. Murray.

Hi Sky,
The quality of the scan is remarkable good. The clarity and details of it are wonderful. If you didn't mention in your note that this is not a river flow, I would have certainly wrote that the flow of the river is wonderful. Now I have to write that the flow of the river must have been wonderful. The helicopter view gave you another spectacular view which shows so much more of the country than when standing on the ground.
