[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have posted this shot of walrus to include in my Franz Josef Land theme. I have posted others in my Norway section and there are notes there also.

This group is mainly females and young is hauled out on a small iceberg - the males are largely in the Spitzbergen area. This group were close to the shot - Polar Bear Kill - which is also in this theme.

As usual conditions were far from ideal - poor light and from a zodiac - hence I have had to rotate this shot 3 degrees CCW to make it look reasonable.

Hello James

A very good low POV for this one.
The focus is very good especially considering the adverse conditions.
Well composed in the frame. The colours appear natural.
Nicely done,Tell me where you haven't been I think the list will be shorter.

Ho James,
great group shot in difficult conditions from your preferred mode of transport, the zodiac! Well exposed and good sharp focus. Well done.
Paul

What do you call a group like this? A herd? A pod?
Very well done - - - you show us so many wonderful parts of the world. Thank you!

Hi James,
you do get around!
This is an exceptional shot of this herd/pack/pod/flock/swarm of Walrus ;)
+++ So have succeeded in photographing these blubber-filled mammals superbly... especially considering the conditions you were photographing in and seeing as you were shooting from a zodiac!
I love the soft lighting and colours.
Great POV and a decent composition aswell.
--- Absolutely nothing :D
I'd love to see such a creature. You are a lucky guy!
Well done and TFS,
Joe

Hello James,
Amazing how these beasts like snuggling up together like this on a small cob! Beautiful colours and well composed.
TFS and regards, Ulla

You held this one really steady too, James. The walruses are so sharp. The boat gave you such an effective low point of view. It looks like real estate on the ice floe was pretty tight. What lens did you use for this one. I've been this close to groups of sea lions and the smell was something one doesn't soon forget. : )

Hello James,
Neat image showing these creatures in thier environment. They have worn the ice smooth and gave it a brown color, so I suspect they have hauled out here for a bit. Great image James, thanks.
