Orange-Headed Thrush
(Zoothera citrina)
Size: 21 cm

Small, orange and grey ground thrush. It has a deep orange head and under parts. It has a white vent and shoulder patch. It’s has a bluish-grey upper parts. Female is browner. Andaman and Nicobar races lack white on shoulder.

Shrill kree call and loud rich song, often with mimicry of other birds.

Inhabits forests, plantations and wooded patches, often near water in shading spots. It feeds in pairs or single, unobtrusively on ground, usually under cover. It remains motionless if disturbed, either on the ground or after flying into the tree. It feeds on invertebrates in leaf-litter. Crepuscular. It nests low in tree.

Rare visitors throughout the island.

Critiques [Translate]

Hi Ang,
Beautiful shot, and not the only one in Your gallery. But there's one thing I don't understand: You have at this moment 3429 points, which means at least 1715 critiques You received. But You wrote only 71, which means 0,04 replies to those put the effort to critique Your images. With other words, You only answered to every 24th. That's why Your otherwise great photos are so underrated, because You shouldn't like to be part of the community, as it seems. Quite a pity, because from Your photos and notes I think You may offer a lot to learn to others. And we're all here to learn.
Best regards, László
