Long-Tailed Parakeet
(Psittacula longicauda) 长尾鹦鹉
Size: 47 cm
Description:
A typical parakeet with pinkish cheeks, crown green and broad black chin stripe. Back often with bluish wash and very long tail blue. Male’s lower mandibles black and upper red while, black in female.
Voice:
Similar to Rose-Ringed but less screening.
Habits:
Inhabits forests and plantations. It raids fruits and cereal crops. It has a acrobatic and very fast flight. It nests in tree hole.
Distribution:
Common resident and breeder throughout Singapore. |
