[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Baya Weaver
(Ploceus philippinus)
Size: 15 cm

Description:
Best distinguished from the streaked weaver by its nest, which is very different.

Voice:
A swallow-like chip; also a harsh, chattering song near nest.

Habits:
Found in open country with some trees, usually near wetlands with long grass. Reported to be reduced in numbers, but recent reports indicate that large colonies still exist in prime locations. The carefully woven nest with a long entrance tube is suspended high in a tree near water.
