Pin-Striped Tit Babbler
(Macronous gularis) Size: 13 cm

Notice the diagnostic broad streaks on yellowish throat and chest.

A resonant, monotonous chuck chuck repeated incessantly; also a harsh churring rattle while feeding.

Not really arboreal, although associated with forest edges, nearby low scrub and overgrown cultivation, and dense gardens. Itís always seen in small groups, jumping about inside cover. Flies only briefly, low across the ground, to reach the next bush quickly. It picks invertebrate prey from the leaves and stems. The nest is a like domed ball vegetation with a side entrance, built in a dense bushes near the ground.

A common resident breeder in forested areas of the island.
