Buffy Fish Owl
(Ketupa ketupu) 马来渔鸮
Size: 50 cm

Note diagnostic white patch above bill; also distinguished from Brown Fish Owl by generally darker plumage with thicker black streaks.

A soft to-wee.

Frequents forest edges near streams; also found in mangroves and near plantations and wet paddy fields. It usually rests in a tree during the day and flies out at dusk to feed on fish, frogs and crustaceans near streams. Sometimes it also takes mice, bats and small birds. It nest in a hole in a rotten tree.

A rare resident breeder throughout Singapore.

o my this is my favorite so far today! What a precious capture, great lighting, fine contrast with POV so perfect an I just love those downy feathers. What an opportunity to capture this moment!
