[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This ant was merely lifeless with its jaws clamped onto that leaf. Most probably infected by a digenetic trematode. By exposing and immobilising the ant, the parasite ensured that the ant will get eaten. Thus enabling the parasite to transfer to the next host of its life cycle.

The ant pic here is of the genus Polyrachis. They can be readily identified by the spines on the petiole and mesosoma, large size and glossy black body. And also, the first segment of the gaster is much longer than the other segments. Some species have their abdomen covered in fine gold hairs.

Great shot.

Good macro.
Nice composition. Great to see how the ant is 'manufactured'; very delicate engineering:-)

A digenetic nematode? Aren't those developping in mollusc and then in vertebrate. Can they attack ants then?

Exellent. I'm amazed how sharp this macro shot is. So detailed !
I found the composition a little too centered and I made a workshop. Hope you will like.
