Common Flameback
(Dinopium javenense) 金背三趾啄木鸟
Size: 28 cm
Description:
A medium-sized, golden-backed woodpecker with long and solid black moustachial stripes. Both sexes have black eye-stripes join to the black rear neck stripe. Male has red crown while female has black crown. Black-scaled white under-parts and red rump contrasting with black tail. Rather small bill and has only 3-toes.
Voice:
It call is similar to but higher pitch than Black-Rumped Woodpecker.
Habits:
Inhabits damp woodland and mangroves. Feeds on invertebrates at all levels but mostly rather low. It’s often in mixed hunting groups. It Nest in self-made tree hole.
Distribution:
Common breeding resident throughout Singapore |

Great capture Ang! Nice colors and simplicity! in my opinion the big letters on the bottom of the image are a bit destructive!
