Tiger Shrike (虎纹伯劳)
(Lanius tigrinus)
Size: 19 cm

In all plumages look for strong bill, fairly short tail and some black barring across back. Immature has white eye-ring. Breeding adult has black mask and grey-crown.

A harsh chatter, often from inside cover.

More arboreal than other shrikes; found in lowland forest, growth and dense coastal scrub. Usually perches low along forest edges. Generally inconspicuous; prefers to stay inside cover.

A common winter visitor throughout the island.
