Similar to Rufous-Bellied Eagle has rufous underparts and rounded wings.

During breeding, it calls is stuttering ka-yack and repeated kek-kek-kek.

Uncommon in wide variety of habitats from along coast to high mountains. Fast powerful flier, capable of spectacular stoops to catch mostly birds on wing.

Uncommon winter visitor in Singapore.
