|White-Bellied Sea Eagle|
(Haliaeetus leucogaster) 白腹海鵰
Size: 70 cm
A massive bird. Note its white under-parts and wings lifted to V-shape; upper-parts are light grey. The immature bird is brownish colour.
A loud, honking call used frequently around nesting site.
Mainly a coastal bird found on remote seashores and offshore islands; also ventures up large rivers and visits reservoirs some distance inland. Seen single or in resident pairs. Easily spotted soaring conspicuously over habitat, but not numerous anywhere. Catches live fish in spectacular swoops across the water’s surface and takes a variety of other prey; also scavenges.
Fairly common resident breeder throughout the island, including north and south offshore islands.

Nice one Ang! Great timing and well composed.
I just got back from a tour of Malaysia, which involved Bukit Fraser! We saw over 15 species in one walk!! Not too good for photography that day though, very dark and cloudy :/
Happy New Year, I hope 2011 brings you lots of rare species to photography ;D
What a great shot! Very well timed and well captured. A good sense of speed and movement with the water splash addind a lot of value to the image. You done very well here Ang and TFS
