|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
(Pitta megarhyncha) 红树八色鸫
Size: 20 cm
Distinguished from Blue-Winged Pitta by habitat, strong bill and dark crown.
Similar to Blue-Winged but more slurred; calls often during breeding season.
A mangrove species occurring mostly in tidal mangrove forest, although see occasionally in nearby coastal woodlands. A low density species, but in suitable habitat quite predictable, and can be lured out by playing its call. Calls from a low branch in the forest and perches on the ground and on lobster mounds.
Rare resident breeder only exist in Pulau Ubin island but now in Pasir Ris Mangrove Swamp too.
