This is a closer look at Fiddler Crab. My previous post is Here.

Mangrove forest is home to this fiddler crab. A brief about mangroves from Wikipedia:

Mangroves support unique ecosystems, especially on their intricate root systems. In areas where roots are permanently submerged, mangroves may be host to a wide variety of organisms, including algae, barnacles, oysters, sponges, and bryozoans, which all require a hard substratum for anchoring while they filter feed. Mangrove crabs improve the nutritional quality of the mangle muds for other bottom feeders by mulching the mangrove leaves.

Mangrove forests provide habitats for wildlife, including several commercially important species of fish and crustacea and in at least some cases export of carbon fixed in mangroves is important in coastal foodwebs. In Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and India, mangrove plantations are grown in coastal regions for the benefits they provide to coastal fisheries and other uses. Despite replanting programs, over half the world's mangroves have been lost.

Some features of the Fiddler Crab do stand out from the "chocolate pie" it is enmeshed in, JC :-)!
Did you also wade into it to take this picture?
Very interesting image.
TFS.

Interesting looking crab captured. Fabulous eyes. You must have been into that mud to get hold of this. Great work and very nicely composed and presented. Kudos.

Hello Jitti,
This is a very interesting specie with so lovely eyes :) It is colorful too. It's nice to see it in its environment. Is it only me or the image seems a little soft? Well done anyway with an original subject :-) Thanks,
Claudine
