I found this Common Palmfly near mangrove area in Navy base compound of Samut Prakan. My previous post of this species is Here

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Satyrinae
Genus: Elymnias
Species: E. hypermnestra
Common Name: Common Palmfly

Description: As some other species in the genus Elymnias, the Common Palmfly presents a precostal cell on the hindwings and a hair tuft of androconial scales on dorsal discal cell of hindwings. This butterfly species is dimorphic, males and females do not look alike. Males exhibit black colored upperside forewings with small blue patches and reddish brown color on upperside hindwings, while the females mimic butterfly species of the genus Danaus.

All species from the genus Elymnias are medium or large-sized and are very delicate and fragile. This is especially true of their wings, which can be easily broken at the slightest touch. Also, they have a rather somber coloration and many are extremely rare.

Its flight can be best described as a slow flapping and gliding motion. It has a propensity to rest on leaves very often after each short flight. Due to its fondness for shade, it is usually found flying under the cover of trees amongst the undergrowth.

Range: Peninsular India and southeast Asia.

Host plants: Plants of the species Palmae including the Coconut (Cocos nucifera) and Oilpalm (Elaeis guineensis), Yellow or Golden Cane Palm (Dypsis lutescens).

Hi Jitti.
You managed to reproduce the image of butterfly excellently. The BG is separate from BG by flash skillfully too. Result is very expressive. The butterfly is excellent illuminated, details and sharpened. Its colours are very nice as well as pose. Non numerous leaves decorate the shot very well. Horizontal cropping is disputable, it seem to me. My compliments and best regards,

Hello Jitti,
my visits at TN are rare and short in the last time. So I'm happy to see a butterfly of my favourite (sub)family Satyri(n)dae. You present a very well focused and sharp picture of hypermnestra. Colours and general composition are pretty good.
Best wishes, Peter
