These beautiful creatures are quite common here in Chiang Rai and in the grand scheme of things, no doubt serve some noble purpose. This one is similar in size to others I've seen and when curled up, it's about 25mm in diameter. My search efforts reveal that this specimen is a Hyleoglomeris albicollis - Order Glomerida, family Glomeridae. (The image layout is the best I could do with my my picture software) |
