Red-Headed Trogon
(Harpactes erythrocephalus) 红头咬鹃
Size: 34cm
Location: Fraser’s Hill (Pahang)
Description:
Note for diagnostic red head of the male, female has brown head.
Voice:
5 or more mellow notes tiaup, tiaup.
Habits:
This trogon is restricted to montane rainforest. It occurs from 400 – 1900m. Like other members of this family; it sits quietly at the middle storey level or slightly lower in primary rainforest, and shifts quickly to another perch when disturbed. It hawks for insects among the trees, but this is rarely observed.
Distribution:
Fairly common in Malaysia. |

what a bird?! might be fairly common in Malaysia, but absolutely new to me! am definitely going to visit Malaysia for birding someday. can't take this torture anymore... :)
