Whilst staying on Phuket Island we did several day trips to the surrounding area. On this day we went exploring through Ao Phang Nga National Park, which fundamentally covers much of Phang Nga Bay on the eastern side of Phuket. It’s a shallow sea crowded with hundreds of limestone islands and turquoise water packed with a kaleidoscope of colourful fish. Snorkelling and diving here is almost as good as on the Australian Great Barrier Reef.

This is perhaps the most famous of the islands, Kao Ta Po as see from Khao Phing Khan. This limestone stack is perhaps 200m high and is colloquially known as James Bond Island. The 1974 film “The Man with the Golden Gun” was filmed in this area.

Its beauty is difficult to capture in the mid day sun, but the whole area is just breathtakingly stunning. If you get the chance, go there you won’t regret it.

Hello Chris,
Very interesting place.Exposure is spot on.Well caught, framed and composed.

Very well composed and detailed landscape. The POV, Colours and DOF are all great. TFS,

Hi Chris
Beautifull picture. Exposure is very good for mid day. Colors, details and brightness is right on. At mid day we can notice a bit of the humidity in the air. Thanks for sharing !

Hi Chris,

Well, that has to be one of the more interesting natural geographic features I've seen. Amazing. I like the composition and colors a lot. I did a quick workshop to see if the distracting bright mid day sky could be softened and a little more sharpness added to the hills. I'll resist the temptation to clone out the boats! : )

Thanks for sharing a part of the world that I will never see in person.

Evelynn : )

Wow, what a fantastic picture featuring this 8th wonder of the world, Chris!
Nature, truly, is a master sculptor beyond comparison.
I love the image for its perspective, DOV, colours and overall composition.
Thanks for sharing it.

Fantastic exposure showing awesome colors and very nice details at this beautiful location. This is also a nice perspective. I am definitely a James Bond Fan. :)

Hi Chris,
Very late one for me.
Quick visit. Well worth a big smiley.
Thanks for posting, have a great weekend.

Hello Chris,
Well composed and presented. Nice scenery. Even in mid day sun the exposure look ok to me. Well done. TFS

I'd love to visit there! The scenery is so breathtaking I wouldn't know where to start to shoot a photo. I love the single rock you've captured here, the boats in the background give some sense of dimension. Very nicely captured, good lighting and focus, well done.

My humble apologies, no time for critique now, wil come back to rectify.
