I found this insect while walking in "Suan Thonburirom" park. This insect looks like Coreidae to me. Hope I correctly identified.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Hemiptera (true bugs)
Family: Coreidae (leaf-footed bugs)

Coreidae is a large family of insects of the order Hemiptera (the "true bugs"), including some of the largest members (> 4 cm) of the entire order. There are over 1800 species in some 250 genera.

The hind legs are often modified, sometimes in elaborate ways; it appears that males of at least some species use these hind legs in combat over territories. All members of the family are exclusively phytophagous.
Some species in this family with hind legs expanded and somewhat leaf-like, and those are commonly called Leaf Footed Bugs. Their antennae are four segmented.
Some species in this family called Tip wilters because they suck out the plant juices just below the tip of a new branch causing it to droop and wilt soon afterwards. They are common pest species in many crop plants as well as garden plants and vegetables.
Eggs are typically cemented beneath foliage of host. One or more generations per year. Coreid adults are relatively slow moving and are seen on the tips of shoots. Nymph stages are fast moving. All of them are with strong repellent odours.

Information on the flower.

Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Caryophyllales
Family: Amaranthaceae
Subfamily: Amaranthoideae
Genus: Celosia

Celosia is a small genus of edible and ornamental plants, similar in appearance and uses to the amaranths. They are sometimes called cockscombs or wool flowers for their brightly colored, woolly flower heads which resemble cockscombs. The name "cockscomb" may be restricted to those whose flower heads are crested by fasciation.

Hi JC

A very beautiful macro again from you!
The sharpness of the details is impeccable here!
I also like the strong contrast between the insect and the "hot"-red flower it is on, the POV and the DOF you chose for this shot.
Also the lighting is exceptional and the composition great!
Cheers and Happy 2007!

Hello Jitti,
Excellent sharp capture of this bug on this fabulous flower! I love the bright red colour against the dark green background. Great composition but perhaps I would have cut it more on the left or right.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Amazing in its colours picture. I especially like how you managed to reproduce the red details of the flowers. It is not so easy. Great sharpness and details of the insect. You have selected DOF extremely well. Whole bug is in focus and perfect detailed. BG is simply beauty. It highlights the charm of the flowers and bug excellently. Superb done.
