A warm welcome to TrekNature. I hope you will enjoy your time here on the site and
hopefully we will still see many shots of this caliber.
This is one beautiful mantis. On the thumbnail I wasn't sure if someone was playing a
game as it looked like a smiley face on its wing. Unfortunately you do not show your
camera details and settings, but it definitively looks like you worked with a very wide
aperture to obtain such a DOF (depth of field) and show all those lovely sharp details
throughout most of the range of the insect. The BG (background) is well isolated and it
made the subject stand out nicely. The colour saturation is pleasing as it really flushed
out all those amazing colours in the wings. The only small nit is the leg that came in the
way of the face, but there are so much other positives about this shot so its no big deal.
To you and your loved ones I wish a wonderful, healthy, and a prosperous 2010.
Well done and TFS.
PS. Notes are a key aspect of this site. Please consider it when you do your next posting
as without it we cannot learn anything about your subjects, techniques, or the location of

Welcome to the Trek Nature site and I trust you will have a most enjoyable and educational journey, and most of all interacting by sharing and receiving amongst fellow members. You have started your journey on the site well, sharing this delightful and most colourful mantis. The colours and patterns on this mantis compliment each other so well, and the fine details of the insect are well seen and displayed. It is indeed a flattering creature. Wow the colours are really beautiful and without a doubt a painters dream. A striking and vibrant image to end 2009 and start 2010. Thanks for sharing. I wish you and your family the all of the best, which you so well deserve. May you have a wonderful photographic year in 2010. Best regards.

a spectacular insect and also a spectacular picture.
It's a pity only that the Mantis hides its face.
Best wishes, Peter
