Thanks a lot for the exact ID to Silvio Sorcini. The extraordinary thing is to have encountered this butterfly at a very high altitude, the GPS marks 2335 mt. The photo was taken on the top of Monte Zuruldi, near Mestia, at the Caucasus.

Class: Insecta
Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Lycaenidae
Genus: Polyommatus
Species:P. eros

Polyommatus eros, the Eros blue or common meadow blue, is a species of blue butterfly found in Europe. The butterfly occurs in Europe, specifically along the Pyrenees, Alps and the Apennines.P. eros earlier comprised a large number of subspecies which extended across the Himalayas,Caucasus and the Central Asian highlands. Many of the subspecies, including those occurring in India, have now been split into separate species.

POLYOMMATUS EROS

Hello Luciano,
A very pretty Blue even if it is a bit tattered and torn. Surprising you found it at such a high altitude.
You must have been lying on your stomach to capture such a low POV. Even the white clover bloom appears to be at ground level. Very sharp focus displaying excellent detail and excellent exposure. We get a good look at the underside wing markings and a hint of its upper side as well. TFS.
Ron

Hello Luciano,
Indeed a great luck to find a lovely specie at high altitude. Despite he has broken parts of his wings the colors are nice. Excellent image.
Marius.

Hi Luciano,
Thanks for God, you didn't forget to activate your camera after the surprising meeting! :-) Perfect flash usage as always, nice composition, great low PoV, good sharpness and interesting composition. Fair shot, nice documentation photo.
Kind regards from Ireland, László

Bonsoir Luciano,

Pierre
