Hi Lou,

According to the experts this is a Long-tailed Skipper and I don't remember seeing one before. The bright flower it is posing on is a wonderful contrast to the butterfly. Beautiful colors and details - I love the bud!

Hallo Lou.

Hello Lou,
Very colorful butterfly picture. This Hesperiidae-butterfly has well chosen its flower! There are some butterflies which look quite close to this one in Jesus Linares' gallery(Venezuela). You might have a look there for an eventual ID.
I wish you a nice week and Merry Christmas.
kind regards
Anne

Hello Laurens,
you managed very well to capture this fast and busy tropical skipper.
I think that it belongs to the genus Urbanus. It looks like Urbanus simplicius.
But I'm not sure on the species identity.
Best wishes, Peter
