[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Blue-crowned Motmot is a large tropical bird related to other colourful families such as the kingfishers, bee-eaters and rollers. Like most of the Coraciiformes, motmots nest in tunnels in banks, laying about three or four white eggs.

I did not have to go to far for this picture as they came to visit a tree just below our hotel balcony. Unfortunate the lighting was not the greatest and they did not stay for very long for me to race for the tripod ;-)

Hi friend Sky,
A splendid shot of these beautifully coloured Blue-crowned Motmots with nice lighting according to me. TFS. Cheers,
Bayram

Hello Sky,

Very well composed with pleasant natural colours. Sharpness could be better but is probably due to lighting conditions. Good work.

Thanks for sharing

Pekka

was für ein süßes Pärchen. Halten etwas Abstand von einander :-)

Hello Sky,
Wow, we've seen these on Trinidad and they're simply gorgeous birds! I never managed a very good shot then as they were pretty shy. I like your composition showing two of them posing very nicely and the colours are wonderful. Sharpness could be better but it's still a lovely shot!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hello Sky,
Amazing birds have been captured by you from hotel balcony. I wish they were in focus/sharp to make it million dollars view. Cheers for sharing these beauties at treknature.
Warm regards-Ranjan

Hello Sky,
Even if this is a little soft it is a great shot of a couple of Blue-crowned Motmots taken from a fine POV that shows their colours nicely. Superb composition.
This shot brings back memories of our trip to Trinidad where we saw one or two under the shade of the trees and I took some distant shots but that was before digitalisation! :(
So thanks for sharing this beauty,
Ivan

Hi Sky.
Wonderful scene and so pleasant soft color palette of the image. Light BG, created by branches, dry and green leaves, is amazing as well as images of the very cute birds. My best regards and TFS.

Wow! These are probably the most beautiful birds I've ever seen!!
They have such a magnificent range of colours on thier body and the long tail and crest is the icing on the cake :-)
Graet composition here and the POV is also great!
Shame it's slightly unsharp but you did really well with the poor light.
Great DOF and BG.
Well done Sky,

Joe

Hi Sky,
What an interesting bird, I like the soft pastel colors of the photo and the vertical image with the two birds. TFS

Hello Sky,
What an incredible species the plumage colors and that tail amazing. The markings on the plumage are so sharp, thank you Sky.

Hello Sky

What this shot lacks in sharpness it makes up three fold in atmosphere and colour.
The entire shot has a lovely artistic look to it,well balanced and composed.
The colours are wonderful.
Super plumage colouration and good detail.
The BG really is beautiful.

Hi Sky, this is cool, it looks like a painting, or a calendar shot. Great colour on these guys. I've never seen this type so thanks for the introduction here. This is the kind of composition you dream of, with the birds on the angled branch with great colour behind them serving as your backdrop, you have one facing each way to give us full 360 degree visibility of this bird. Nicely done.

Thanks, John

Hi Sky,
Excellent shot of this colourful duo. Motmot seems such a funny name but they look beautiful with that blue crown. The focus is a bit soft but the colours are amazing and you have captured them in fine poses, looking either way. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Hello Sky,
Sharpness aside, it's a nice composition with these two colorful birds in the same frame. The color is great and you did fine job of exposing in the not-so-great light..
Well done & have a nice weekend,
Howard

Hello Sky,
Very colourful kind of birds on these Motmot!
good clarity, nice colour and details on the shot
well done
many thanks for sharing
Tony

The resemblance of these colourful birds to Bee Eaters I know of is rather marked, Sky.
You were lucky to capture them through the window of your hotel.
This is really an interesting and unique perspective from the top.
Well done and TFS.
Regards.
Ram
