Another "catch" on our fishing trip. There must have been at least 50 sightings of those during our tour. Mostly we stayed clear of their path, the ones we did get closer to were very quick on diving under.

Not quite sure of the type, but I think its the
Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea)

Turtles in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is the home of six of the eight world-wide turtle species in existence.

Pacific Coast
* Leatherbacks
* Olive Ridleys
* Pacific greens

Caribbean Coast
* Green and Hawksbill Turtles
* Leatherbacks:
* Loggerheads

Hello Sky I've yet to see one of these in the wild, I do wish it popped it's head up would have made a great photo. You composed it well and the focus looks good. tfs rgds Necip.

Hi Sky,
l like this composition you chose. I have never seen a sea turtle but here we have many living in soft water. The color of the water is beautiful and we can see nice details in its transparency. Like Necip said, it would have been great if it could have showed its little head :) Your notes are interesting. Thanks,

Hello Sky
I have never been seen a sea turtle at all..Your focus here is really sharp..so good that its cut through the water to get those lovely front paddles.
Best Regards

Hello Sky,
A big 'fish' you captured in Costa Rica.
Well done

Hello Sky,
I didn't realise that Sea Turtle could be seen with the carapace so high out of the water. You took a good opportunity to shoot it and the result is a fine sharp image showing most of the features of this Olive Ridley.
Thanks for sharing a sight not often seen on TN and I wonder if this a first for the species on TN?
Have a good weekend,

Hello Sky,

And I always thought that a fishing trip was menth to catch fish :)

Never knew that they did float like this.
Beautiful details and clarity.
Excellent sharpness and exposure.

Hi Sky,

Wonderful catch of this turtle, excellent details, the colours of the water looks beautiful, I'm surprised how high in the water this fellow is, On a recent trip to Morton Island here in Brisbane I was lucky enough to see a Green Sea Turtle (well the head at least) this is wonderful, nice work, all the best Cheers Rick :)

Hi Sky,
Excellent shot of this Sea Turtle and the ripples in the water make the image look fantastic. You have won another round in your fishing trip. Great lighting and exposure and the image is tack sharp. Excellent POV to portray it and very nicely composed. Kudos.

hello Sky,
This is a fine image showing the swimming turtle!
Looks like he is trying to hide by dipping the head, hehehe...
Fine details and a pleasant composition!

Hi Sky

I have never seen a shot of one of these swimming on the surface. It must have been great to see. Lovely sharp details, gorgeous colours and well composed.

Sehen aus wie schwimmende Landschafthügel im Kleinformat. Muss beeindruckend sein, diese riesegen Tiere im Meer zu sehen.
Viele Grüße,

Hello Sky,
Great capture with very sharp details and clors. Since you have returned to TrekNature you have presented us with some unusual images which is very refreshing. Thank you for the great work.

Hello Sky. Very nice capture of turtle on the surface. Pleasant ripples in well exposed sunlight. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni

Looks like it is a huge turtle, Sky.
What I like most about this picture are the wave patterns and color on the sea.
The sense of movement is palpable in the form of ripples around the subject.
The back of the subject visible above water is also in sharp focus and shows the patterns on it.
I enjoyed going back to this picture.
