The Laguna is boarded with mangrove trees. I was strucked by the complexity of the roots spreading in this soup. The water is still in the laguna. An unpleasant smell is oppressing.
Then I realized how difficult it was to circulate in these areas when roads did not exist. Imagine yourself treking and having to cross these swamps, infested with mosquitoes. No wonder why so many people died of malaria then.

A fine example is coming to my mind, i.e. when they have built the Panama Canal 125 years ago.

Now the laguna is protected area. The laguna is a natural park . Still this is not the most visited place. People are generally opting to go to the beach instead of visiting this place.
