I can't resist to post another pic of this beautiful butterfly...waiting the springtime..

Class: Insecta

Order: Lepidoptera

(unranked): Rhopalocera

Family: Nymphalidae

Subfamily: Heliconiinae

Tribe: Heliconiini

Subtribe: Heliconiiti

Genus: Agraulis
(Boisduval & Le Conte, 1835)
Species: A. vanillae

The Gulf Fritillary or Passion Butterfly (Agraulis vanillae) is a striking, bright orange butterfly of the family Nymphalidae, subfamily Heliconiinae. These were formerly classified in a separate family, the Heliconiidae or longwing butterflies, and like other longwings this species does have long, rather narrow wings in comparison with other butterflies. It is not closely related to the true fritillaries. It is a medium to large butterfly, with a wingspan of 69.5 cm (2.43.7 in). Its underwings are buff, with large silvery spots. It takes its name from the fact that migrating flights of the butterflies are sometimes seen over the Gulf of Mexico.
The Gulf Fritillary is commonly seen in parks and gardens, as well as in open country. Its range extends from Argentina through Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean to the southern United States, as far north as the San Francisco Bay Area on the west coast. It is occasionally found further north in the US.

Hello Luciano
I agree, seeing butterflies means spring is just around the corner. I love the bright colour on this butterfly and the way his has his wings open to show off the beautiful pattern. Nice and sharp, well composed and good light.

Hello Luciano,
Don't think twice to post same species several times. For this, you need to capture more photograph and you could judge your own work; and we'll get chance to see the species in different angle.
Beautiful photograph of this 'Gulf Fritillary'. Excellent light as well as stunning POV. Against green it's looking really splendid. I didn't get much butterfly sitting her/his wings open in India in our yard!
Thanks for showing with informative NOTE,
Best wishes,
Srikumar

Hello Luciano,
A wonderful presentation of this colorful Gulf Fritillary in a full opened wing pose. The bright orange wings with black markings and a few specks of white intermingled is quite eye catching. I love all the greenery surrounding it giving a wonderful contrast to it's rich colors. Tac sharp focus revealing much detail and your exposure is perfect.
