[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Its great to be back here after quite a long absence, its been a long and hard winter for me...Lots of work to do etc etc!!
This shot was taken on our recent holiday in the Dom Rep.
I found out to my cost that caution must be taken when taking shots like this in a hot country in very unfamiliar surroundings.I was wearing only sandals and shorts and was bitten by something which turned nasty a couple of days later and this resulted in a $170 hospital bill!!
I'm not certain what species this small butterfly is but it does look quite similar to some Skipper butterflies we have.If anyone can help with the ID I'll update my note.

Photo cropped.
A little USM.

Welcome back Andy!
Great photo - I like blue flower and details on this skipper. Its eye is rather weird and almost scary ;-) Did you noticed droplet of something on flower? It doesn't looks like dew. Sandals in tropics? Not very good idea ;-)

Impressive macro Andy, very good details & sharpness.
Great comopsition, soft colours and BG.
What is that black glob?

TFS! Beautiful work.
Well done!!!

Very good capture Andy and nice to have you back. Very good colours here. Excellent dof showing a lot of details and well blurred background.

I like it, Andy. Quite sharp and detailed. Nice colors. What is that colored liquid drop below the butterfly?

Its great to have you back. Great shot, Andy. The flower adds a nice BG and the skipper? is sharp. Interesting critter from the Dom Rep. Anymore? :)

Andy, Very nice shot of your skipper going in for the dip. Great detail, color & composition..Very good job on this! PS - I see you borrowed some of my morning glory flowers ;-)

Great macro from this part of world. Sorry to hear about your torment, life in the tropics is full of unexpected badies. the contrast between the flower and its visitor is very nice.

Wonderful photo. Not much more to add from the others. Well done, Andy.

I nerver saw it!
It looks like an Hesperidae, but I'm not quite shure.
The shape of the body and the type of the wings points to this family, but it's all suposes.
Great shot!

Super zdjęcie. Pięknie skadrowane. naprawdę zachwycająca kompozycja. Great shot and fantastic colours.

Great colours, POV, good details and composition.

Hi Andy,
Fantastic capture of this Redeye butterly with superb composition, excellent sharpness and details, and splendid colors. I consulted some information and found this species is called "the Giant Redeye" because I have a special interest in the butterflies with red eyes. I have some shots of two red-eye species: the Common Redeye and the Banana Skipper. The difference lies in the colors of their wings. The Common Redeye is brown and the Banana Skipper dark brown, but the Giant Redeye chocolate-brown. I was so excited to see another species with red eyes, and tfs, Andy,
John
