[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It would be nice to meet this majestic animal in his native environment, but small children and not so small parents love animal parks which are educational and some of them more friendly to the animals. One of them can be found in Feld am See, near Radenthein or Millstaetter lake in Carinthia.
Ibex capra or Alpine ibex is a type of mountain goat with long and unmistakable horns. Males have much longer horns up to 1 meter long, females up to 35 cm.
The animal on the photo is a young male.
They can be seen on mountain pastures in the Alps between 1600 and 3200 m high.
These days the Alpine ibex is not threatened although it was hunted heavily for its magnigicent horns and some body parts for which people believed of having pharmaceutical qualities.
